NY lawyers charging over $1000 per hour

While lawyers across the industry have suffered from redundancies and pay freezes as a result of the recession, there are some lawyers who are still enjoying high times. While clients are pushing for greater value and alternative fee arrangements from law firms, they are still willing to pay top dollar for some kinds of legal advice, especially in high-stakes situations or when they think a star attorney might quickly resolve their problem. Some lawyers in the US are charging as much as $1,250 an hour. Harvey Miller, a bankruptcy partner at New York-based Weil, Gotshal & Manges, charges as much as $1,045 an hour. “The underlying principle is if you can get it, get it,” he said.
