US lateral market heats up

Lateral hiring in the US increased by 38 per cent to 2,300 hires last year, after two years of declining activity on the lateral market. Lateral hires of associates jumped by 61 per cent, while lateral hiring of partners increased by eight per cent. The National Association for Law Placement reported that lateral hiring was most robust in the Northeast and least active in the Southeast.
