Ashurst increases the number of partners at the top of its lockstep system

Ashurst has reordered its partnership, more than doubling the number of partners at the top of its lockstep. The decision to increase the size of the top level group to around 50 per cent of equity partners is a reversal of a decision taken four years ago, when the group was around 10 per cent of the equity partnership. Partnership seniority at the firm operates on a point system, and since the firm did not alter the total number of points available to equity partners, the shift of some partners to the top group has also meant that a number of partners have moved down the ladder.
