Number of women partners and trainees in the UK increases

A recent survey shows that between 2006 and 2007 the number of female partners at UK law firms rose by 5%. As reported in Legal Week, the Law Society's Annual Statistical Report has found, among other things, that as at 31 July 2007 there were 7,420 female partners in England and Wales, compared to 5,727 in 2006. The 2007 figure represents 22% of all partners in private practice. Overall, 38% of all solicitors currently in private practice are partners in their firms.
