Criminal Contempt for misconduct: Lawyer sentenced to 4 months of jail

April 13, 2011 Advocate N.B. Deshmukh has been held guilty of criminal contempt of the Court and sentenced to four months of simple imprisonment for hurling abuses at the judge inside a courtroom.

The NDTV reports that Deshmukh had in 2008 hurled abuses at the judge as his case had not been heard and was allegedly kept pending for a period of 15 long years. Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and A.P. Bhangale of the Bombay High Court stated that Advocate Deshmukh hurled abuses at the Court in an “unruly and rowdy fashion” and held him guilty.
