Mayer Brown to pay spring bonuses to US associates
Mayer Brown has jumped on the spring bonus bandwagon with the announcement that it will pay US-based associates according to the scale set by Cravath Swaine & Moore. As pointed out by AboveTheLaw, spring bonuses are all about demonstrating that the firm is willing to pay ‘competitive compensation’. “If a major law firm pays ‘competitive compensation,’, says AboveTheLaw, “then it can make its case to potential recruits based on other factors — firm culture, quality of life, specific practice areas that are strong, etc. If a firm fails to pay competitive compensation, then it really has to distinguish itself in these other respects”.
