Reed Smith launches in Shanghai after Dorsey & Whitney hire

Pittsburgh based law firm Reed Smith has launched an office in Shanghai, marking its third office in Asia. The office will be led by new hire Jay Yan, who joins the firm from Dorsey & Whitney to take up the post of Shanghai managing partner. Yan will be joined by Zack Dong, of Reed Smith’s Beijing office. Yan said: “Many U.S. companies start their China operations in Shanghai because of the favorable legal climate and incentives that the government offers to locate manufacturing operations in the outskirts of the city.” He added: “Our new office, in this key market, will provide companies with on-the-ground support and the ability to access the firm’s broad capabilities across our international network.”
