Davenport Lyons partners suspended from practice in the UK over intimidating tactics
Two lawyers from UK firm Davenport Lyons have been suspended by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal over intimidating letters sent out to alleged illegal file-sharers. The lawyers – Davenport litigation partner David Gore and former partner Brian Miller – were also fined £20,000 each. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found the partners pair guilty of six breaches of the Code of Conduct for sending threatening letters accusing internet users of illegal file-sharing and demanding cash in settlement.
