US law school gets a slap on the wrist after misrepresenting admissions info
The American Bar Association has censured Villanova law school for misrepresenting the median LSAT scores and GPAs of incoming Villanova students, and falsely reporting the number of admission offers extended to Villanova applicants. An investigation revealed that the administration officials at Villanova maintained this deceit over a period of four years. The ABA has said that while intentional reporting of inaccurate information might justify putting the school on probation or removing it from the list of ABA approved law schools, a lesser sanction was imposed because Villanova self reported the problem, corrected it, and removed all people that were involved in the misrepresentations. Above the Law suggests that the ABA’s penalty, which requires the law school to post details of the censure online for two years, is a fairly light punishment for such a serious violation of the ABA standards.
