Supreme Court of India appoints second female sitting judge

The Supreme Court of India has appointed Justice Ranjana Desai to the bench. Desai leaves her former post at the Bombay High Court to become te fifth woman to join the Supreme Court, and the second sitting female judge. The collegium has also appointed Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court S. J. Mukhopadhaya, and Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court J. S. Khehar.
