US law schools see 10% drop in applicants

It seems that university applicants are starting to realize that a legal career can no longer provide the kind of stability of times gone by: applications for law school in the US dropped by a massive 10 per cent in the autumn application season - the steepest decline in at least 10 years. In the summer there was an 18.7% decline in LSAT test takers, which represents the biggest decline in at least 24 years, according to the Law School Admission Council. “Frankly, for many years, there were many students who went to law school because they didn’t know what to do,” Cari Haaland, assistant dean of admissions for the University of St. Thomas School of Law, told the Star-Tribune. “Now, prospective students are thinking more critically about the decision.”
