US firms Baker & Daniels and Faegre & Benson agree to merge

Indianapolis-based firm Baker & Daniels has confirmed that a merger agreement has been reached between itself and Minneapolis firm Faegre & Benson. The agreement concludes negotiations that began in August, and the merger will take effect on 1 January 2012. The newly merged firm will operate under the banner of Faegre Baker Daniels, while B&D Consulting will change its name to FaegreBD Consulting. Baker & Daniels has a headcount of 308 lawyers in seven and Faegre & Benson employs 500 lawyers. The merged firm will be the 68th largest in the United States, with a headcount of 770 lawyers and revenues in excess of $400 million. “This makes us a truly national firm with strong international capabilities,” said Andrew Humphrey, Faegre’s managing partner who will hold the same role in the merged firm.
