The inside scoop on performance reviews at Skadden
There is an interesting article here at Above the Law that gives some insight into the annual review process at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. The report provides general observations about the review process, highlights some comments from leaked attorney evaluations, and even provides a few reviews in their entirety (redacted to remove lawyer and client names). The article’s author read about 50 performance reviews, and distilled a few very interesting observations about what partners are looking for in junior lawyers, noting – for example – that performance trumps credentials, and that pro bono work was seen as a significant contribution and was highly regarded.
