Sidley Austin and Paul Weiss post revenue growth in 2011

US firms Sidley Austin and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison have posted revenue growth in 2011. Sidley Austin saw revenues rise 5.6 per cent to $1.41 billion in 2011, while partner profits increased 9.6% to $1.6 million. Executive committee chairman Thomas Cole said that the result was the product of balanced growth across offices and practice groups, although he singled out Sidley's 21-lawyer Palo Alto office, which opened in 2009, for posting an almost 50% increase in revenue. At Paul Weiss, revenue rose 3.9 per cent to a record $780 million, with partner profits growing 1.5 per cent to a record $3.1 million. "We were very fortunate in 2011 to have the highest revenues and profits in our firm's history, driven by record litigation and transactional activity," said chairman Brad Karp.
