Former Minter Ellison finance chief admits to stealing $2.7m from firm

March 19, 2012 The former finance chief in the Adelaide office of major Australian firm Minter Ellison has admitted stealing $2.7 million from the firm before fleeing to Thailand.

Craig Raneberg admitted to 70 theft charges, stealing amounts as large as $43,000 per transaction between August 1, 2003 and June 1, 2011, and deleting the firm’s bank records to cover his tracks. He then fled to Thailand, but was arrested by Australian police when he flew back to renew his visa.

Raneberg is in custody and will face the District Court next month.
