Alcoa Inc hires senior litigation partner from Fried Frank
Pittsburgh-based aluminum company Alcoa Inc has hired Audrey Strauss, a senior litigation partner at Fried Frank, as its chief legal officer, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary. Strauss replaces Kurt Waldo, who will retire after 32 years with the company. The role will not be an easy one, since the company faces numerous imminent compliance challenges. It is engaged in litigation in Bahrain under accusation of civil-racketeering, and is under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department for potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits bribes to foreign officials.
