Canadian law firm Lenczner Slaght hires former Supreme Court Justice
Leading Canadian litigation firm Lenczner Slaght Royce Smith Griffin has made a high profile hire with the recruitment of former Supreme Court of Canada Justice Ian Binnie, who joins the firm as counsel. “Lenczner Slaght has great people and great work, and for me there is the added bonus of being able to practise again with many of the same talented people I worked with before going to the bench.” Binnie will also conduct Canadian and international arbitrations in a second role as Resident Arbitrator with a new arbitration facility, Arbitration Place. Commenting on his new role as an arbitrator, Binnie said: “Arbitration has become an increasingly popular and effective way of resolving business disputes in the globalized economy and Canada has a well-deserved reputation as a neutral jurisdiction,” adding: “I am very much looking forward to hearing cases as an arbitrator and to being part of the wonderful group of arbitrators that Arbitration Place has assembled.”
