Law firm leaders say changes to the industry are here to stay

A new survey by consulting firm Altman Weil Inc shows that a growing number of law firm leaders believe that he changes wrought on the legal services industry by the 2008 financial downturn are here to stay. The survey shows a widening consensus regarding the permanence of tougher competition on fees, outsourcing of routine legal work and legal support services and smaller equity partnerships, when compared to the results of a similar survey conducted three years ago. The survey was sent to chairpersons and managing partners at 792 law firms with 50 or more, and the results are drawn from the 238 completed forms sent back.
