AZB & Partners hires Crawford Bayley associate partner in Mumbai

May 30, 2012 AZB & Partners has boosted its M&A and corporate practice with the hire of Crawford Bayley associate partner Krishna Venkat, who will join AZB as a senior associate in Mumbai.

Venkat was among the first senior associates promoted to the newly introduced non-equity partnership at Crawford Bayley last year.

Crawford Bayley corporate and M&A partner Sanjay Buch commented on the departure, saying that it is a loss for the firm. He added that the firm’s associate partner ranking had been a success and would continue: “We are a 160-year-old law firm and there’s a constant lookout for good talent to be retained… The [associate partner] platform is offered for the young talent to prove themselves. If they’re capable and they fit in the culture of the firm, they can capitalize on the firm and the platform.”
