Clifford Chance announces a pay rise
Clifford Chance has announced an increase in salaries for associates with more than a year's post-qualification experience. Lawyers with one year’s PQE will see their salaries increase by £500 to £69,000; those with two years’ PQE will receive £76,300 - up £1,300 from last year’s figure of £75,000; and those with three years’ PQE will see an extra £1,500, bringing their salary to £87,000. Pay for trainee and newly qualified lawyers remains at the same levels as last year with first and second year trainees receiving £38,000 and £43,000 respectively, while newly-qualified lawyers will receive £61,500. The firm’s London managing partner David Bickerton said: "Perhaps surprisingly given the uncertain economic environment, the London office has had a good year and our practice has grown. We have been involved in many of the most interesting cases and transactions this year and, again, have been more highly ranked than any other firm.”
