Indian firm Economic Laws Practice promotes 4 to equity and eight to non-equity partnership

Economic Laws Practice has promoted four partners to equity status alongside its founding partners, and has elevated eight associate partners to the rank of non-equity partnership. The new equity partners are Mumbai tax heads Rohit Jain and Nishant Shah, Mumbai litigation head Naresh Thacker and Delhi litigation head Tarun Gulati. Seven of the associates promoted to non-equity partnership are in Mumbai: Pranay Bhatia in tax, Aqeel Sherazi in litigation, Darshan Upadhyay in corporate and M&A, Jeet Sengupta in banking and finance, Madhur Baya in arbitration and dispute resolution, Sanjay Notani in international trade and WTO and Yashojit Mitra in private investment. Tax associate partner Ajit Tolani was made partner in Pune. Managing partner Rohan Shah explained that the promotions were part of the wider partnership restructuring drive, and said that he anticipates that many more will join the equity pool in the future.
