UK firm Clydes hires 8-partner team from Allens

UK firm Clyde & Co is bringing on a high-powered team from Allens Arthur Robinson, hiring eight partners in across four offices. The firm is set to launch in the Australian legal market after the hire of Allens insurance and reinsurance head John Edmond, insurance partner Dean Carrigan and insurance consultant Oscar Shub for the new office in Sydney, and Allens financial services and insurance litigation partner Jenny Thornton in Perth. Clydes has also boosted its Hong Kong office with the hire of Allens Hong Kong dispute resolution head Simon McConnell and disputes partner Mun Yeow, while the Singapore office sees the addition of Allens disputes head Matthew Skinner and corporate senior associate Ian Stewart. Clydes management board partner James Burns said: "Australia has been a jurisdiction that we've been looking at for some time, but as always, the key driver for us was the need to find the right people to work with. Our relationship with this team stretches back a number of years and in addition, the industry and client synergies between our practices are a perfect fit."
