UK government funds new paralegal training program
The UK government has announced the launch of a paralegal training scheme that offers students an 18 month course combined with a paid apprenticeship in a law firm. The program will be offered by Pearson, and has the aim of providing school leavers with an alternative route into law and encouraging people from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter a career previously open only to graduates. The government has committed £1m to jumpstart the scheme, though it will be left to the firms to decide how much to pay the paralegals above the national minimum wage of £2.60 an hour.
