Yale Law School launches Ph.D. program
Yale Law School has announced the launch of the first US Ph.D. program in Law, with the aim of preparing law students for a career in legal academia. The program will focus on scholarly research and writing, and includes a teaching component.
Robert Post, dean of Yale Law, explained that institutions of legal scholarship are increasingly looking for candidates with a Ph.D. He said: “You have to come in now with a portfolio of writing”, adding: “People require you to show your abilities as a scholar by what you’ve written. Where do you get that training?”
