Cooley launches Santa Monica base after hiring team from rival firms

Cooley has launched an office in Los Angeles, after putting together a new media, technology and entertainment team using talent from DLA Piper, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner. Heading up the Santa Monica base is David Hernand, a former Latham & Watkins partner and co-chair of Gibson Dunn’s media, entertainment and technology group. Hernand will work alongside the LA business and technology head David Young, who was former chair of DLA Piper’s corporate and finance group in Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix. The team also includes corporate partner Christopher Shoff from DLA Piper and entertainment specialist Jennifer Massey from Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner.
