US associates see greater billings growth than partners and counsel

Fees charged for US associates are increasing at a faster rate than fees for partners and counsel, according to a new survey. The survey was conducted by Washington DC consultant Valeo Partners, and looks at the billing rates for attorneys at 550 law firms across the US. It found that billable rates for associates have risen by 7.5 per cent in the past year, while billable rates for partners and counsel have risen by just 3.4 and 3.6 per cent respectively.
