Are law school rankings reliable?

First, it seems that there is little consistency in the the rankings of Indian law schools from year to year. With this much movement among the top 25 schools, one might ask whether the quality of these institutions is changing from year to year, or whether there is in fact some kind of flaw in the ranking process.

The methodology varies between different magazines, but generally includes subjective ‘perception scores’, along with employment statistics (usually supplied by the college) and a score based on pitch documents submitted to the publication. All in all, it doesn’t strike one as being a particularly scientific method.
