MacRoberts tells 82% of trainees to hit the road

Scottish law firm MacRoberts has reported that it is keeping just two of its 11 trainees, slipping in to last place in the trainee retention ranking by keeping just 18 per cent of the trainee group. Last year, MacRoberts managed to give jobs to nine of its 15 qualifiers. Sixty per cent may not be a stellar result, but it certainly is better than this year’s performance. A spokesman for the firm explained that the poor figures were "due to a combination of the high retention the previous year and the fact that market conditions continue to be challenging in many sectors".
