Ex-Howrey lawyers prepare for clawback litigation
Around 60 former Howrey attorneys have banded together to defend themselves against litigation arising from the firm’s demise. The trustee running the defunct firm’s bankruptcy has said that he may sue former partners to recover compensation paid out of the firm’s alleged profits on the basis that the firm was insolvent when those moneys were paid. The lawyers have hired San Francisco law firm of Dumas & Clark to represent them in future litigation, and are claiming that they were partners in name only, and therefore are not subject to partner clawback claims.
