George Washington University distorts intake stats

Scandal has hit George Washington University with the revelation that GW college has been inflating the grades of its incoming class when they reported statistics to U.S. News. GW reported that 78 percent of its 2011 incoming class was ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. The true figure is the rather lower 58 percent. Meanwhile, law school Dean Paul Schiff Berman, who has been in the role for just 14 months, is leaving his post to become the “Vice Provost for Online Education and Academic Innovation.” AboveTheLaw puts the question: “Was this really a great opportunity that Berman was looking for, or is this more like a soft landing for the soon-to-be-former dean”?
