71 US law firms get perfect score on LGBT programs

November 20, 2012 The Human Rights Campaign scored leading legal and corporate institutions on their policies benefiting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees, awarding a perfect score to 71 law firms and a score of above 90 percent to another 35 law firms.

The 2013 Corporate Equality Index invited the top 200 US law firms to participate in the index, and 141 agreed.

Firms were graded on five criteria: equal employment opportunity, parity in employment benefits, diversity training and public support for equality. Points were deducted for public activity that would undermine LGBT equality, including working for clients that oppose marriage equality.
