Clifford Chance reduces London trainee program

December 7, 2012 Roll On Friday reports that Clifford Chance has slashed its trainee program in London, taking on fewer new trainees and informing current trainees that they are not guaranteed a job with the firm.

The firm took on 130 trainees in 2008/09, dropping the intake to 120 positions as the financial crisis took its toll, and now the number has been brought down to 100 trainees. A spokesman said that the firm had to look at the number of NQ positions likely to be available further down the line, and in the current market it made sense to have fewer trainees and retain a greater proportion of them.
