Enrolment in US non-JD programs increases

December 25, 2012 The ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar has reported that enrolment in non-J.D. programs at ABA-approved law schools has increased substantially in the past 12 years.

Schools reported a 52 per cent increase in enrolment in non-J.D. programs from 2000 to 2012, and a 39 per cent increase in the past seven years alone, from 7,976 students in 2005 to 11,067 in 2012.

J.D. enrolment figures, meanwhile, continue their trend of decline, falling 8 per cent between 2005 and 2012, though it the preliminary report noted that enrolments were 11 per cent higher in 2012 than in 2000.
