Yahoo hires Mexican firm to appeal $2.7b judgment

January 2, 2013 Quijano Cortina y de la Torre is representing Yahoo in its appeal against a $2.7 billion judgment handed down in Mexico. The suit concerns Yahoo’s failed partnership with Mexican company Worldwide Directories, which was intended to publish online and print telephone directories in Mexico.

At first instance the court found that Yahoo improperly terminated the agreement, leading to losses in Mexico and beyond for Worldwide Directories. Quijano Cortina y de la Torre has been retained to conduct the appeal, which will be heard sometime in the month of February.
