White & Case maintains poor equality stats in Miami
White & Case’s Miami office has promoted just one woman to the partnership in the 25 years since it opened, according to this report from Daily Business Review.
Senior Associate Linda Leali worked in the firm’s Miami office for 12 years, and this year when she was not promoted she decided it was time to start her own practice, Alderman Leali in Miami Shores.
"I'm leaving for a better opportunity," Leali said. "While the firm's women initiative has always been supportive, over the years I have had to look outside the firm in the local community for some role models and mentors. Those mentors and role models led me to conclude that my best chance for both professional and personal success was to venture out with my new law partner."
White & Case had no comment on the situation in Miami, though a spokesman pointed out that 18 per cent of the new partner class across the global network for 2013 is women.
