Reed Smith to launch 25th office in Houston

January 29, 2013 Pittsburgh-based law firm Reed Smith is set to launch its 25th office in Houston.

Details are scarce regarding the new office, but sources reveal that the Houston base will offer clients a full service with a focus on the energy and resources sector.

The move follows numerous unsuccessful attempts to find a merger partner in Houston. Global managing partner Gregory B. Jordan explained that merger negotiations with various Texas firms failed because of conflicts or just a differing view of where the market was headed.

The firm has already hired trial lawyer Lee Haag from Fulbright & Jaworski, and is looking to make a number of other lateral hires in the coming months.
