Arnold & Porter pays 'below market' bonuses

February 4, 2013 Associates at Arnold & Porter are upset over the 2012 bonus payouts, reporting that the class of 2010 payout is below the market standard for 2000 (Arnold & Porter pays $10,000, while the Cravath scale provides for $14,000). According to associates, a lawyer at Arnold & Porter would need to bill a massive 2400 hours to match or beat the bonus award at Cravath.

And plenty of associates at Arnold & Porter didn’t get a bonus at all - unlike Cravath and other lockstep firms, A&P only paid bonuses to around 66% of its associates.
