Washington DC firm Patton Bogs lays off 65
Patton Boggs has laid off 30 lawyers and 35 staffers. The firm responded to a drop in profits by making redundancies in its New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Denver and Dallas offices. As part of the restructure, Patton Boggs will move its Washington DC technical-support, finance and human-resources services to Virginia.
Managing Partner Edward Newberry said that last year revenue dropped by 6.5 per cent from $339.7 million to $317.4 million, and net profit fell 14% from $89.8 million to $77 million.
While no partners have been laid off at this stage, the firm has notified 18 partners over recent months that their contracts won’t be renewed unless their performance improves.
