CC wins approval for mixed partnership in Saudi

March 7, 2013 Clifford Chance has become the first foreign law firm to establish a mixed partnership in Saudi Arabia, after gaining approval to integrate with its longstanding regional partner, Al-Jadaan.

Clifford Chance and Al-Jadaan have been allied since 2003, and the firms will will integrate their Saudi Arabian corporate, finance and capital markets practices from 1 January next year. The move means that Clifford chance will be able to offer clients both international services and lawyers that are qualified to work with local laws.

Al-Jadaan partners Abdulaziz Al-Abduljabbar and Khalid Al-Abdulkareem will join the Clifford Chance partnership, and a number of Al-Jadaan associates and support staff will move across to the magic circle firm. The rest of the Al-Jadaan team, including managing partner Mohammed Al-Jadaan, and partners Yousef Al-Jadaan and Abdullah Al-Hashim, will remain with Al-Jadaan’s local operation, which will be a niche boutique focusing on litigation and mediation, legal strategy and structuring activities.
