UK Justice Secretary encourages Indian liberalisation

March 14, 2013 UK Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has pointed out that the liberalisation of the Indian legal industry could double the value of the Indian legal market, as well as providing opportunities for UK businesses.

Grayling made the comments during a speech on the government’s growth strategy. He used the opportunity to talk about the benefits that come from a liberalised legal market, pointing out that UK legal exports have quadrupled in the past decade, and over 200 foreign law firms are now operating in London.

The comments come a month after after Prime Minister David Cameron sent a high-level business delegation to India that included DLA Piper senior partner Tony Angel.
