Washington DC firm Lewis Baach to launch in NY
Lewis Baach has launched in New York after the hire of white collar practitioners Adam Kaufmann and Arthur Middlemiss. The New York office will function under the name Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss (LBKM).
Kaufmann and Middlemiss have both held senior leadership positions in the New York County District Attorney's Office. Kaufmann was the Chief of the Investigation Division, supervising over 100 prosecutors who handled criminal matters involving international white-collar crime, sanctions violations, and organized crime.
Before he left DANY in 2007, Middlemiss was chief of a bureau that focused on international white-collar crime, known informally as "DANY Overseas." Since then he has been working with JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he held senior positions in the firm's anti-money laundering program, and was named its first Director of the Global Anti-Corruption Program.
"We are delighted that Adam Kaufmann and Art Middlemiss are joining our firm. We have had a relationship of friendship and mutual respect for many years," said senior partner Eric Lewis. "Their decision to join Lewis Baach is further evidence of the growing trend among top talent in our industry to choose firms based on expertise and focus, rather than size and number of practice areas."
