Dickstein Shapiro makes layoffs in NY and DC

May 27, 2013 The news of layoffs throughout the global legal industry continues. Dickstein Shapiro has reportedly laid off associates this month, with the majority of New York associates finding themselves out of a job and a smaller - but significant - number of associates in Washington DC also made redundant.

Above the Law considers what might be driving the cuts, noting that last year wasn’t a bad year for Dickstein Shapiro. Gross revenue was down 3.2 percent to $258.5 million, but revenue per lawyer grew 7.7 percent to $840,000, profits per partner increased 3.8 percent to $950,000, and net income jumped 8.9 percent to $55 million.
