17 partners to leave Patton Boggs

June 26, 2013 Seventeen partners have announced their intention to leave Washington law and lobby firm Patton Boggs.

The majority of the departing partners worked out of the firm’s Dallas office, but the firm is also losing partners in Washington and Denver. Unconfirmed reports indicate that at least some of the group will be launching a Dallas office for Holland & Knight.

The news follows a significant round of layoffs in March, and it was recently reported that it has one of the biggest partner compensation spreads among US law firms. Firms with high spreads often experience greater lateral churn than firms with low spreads, since the firm culture tends to strain under the weight of high income inequality.
