Support staff at UK firms take voluntary redundancies

July 3, 2013 Hill Dickinson’s plans for 200 staff redundancies are proceeding apace with reports emerging that 60 people have taken voluntary redundancy at the firm’s Liverpool office.

Meanwhile, commentators say that Berwin Leighton Paisner is likely to achieve its redundancy targets - laying off support staff to cut a full 15 % of its wage bill - solely through voluntary redundancies.
Roll on Friday points out that it is somewhat surprising to see so many people willing to take redundancy in such a tough labour market, but that the volunteers may be taking advantage of the voluntary redundancy package in the knowledge that they will be offered a less generous compulsory redundancy package in the coming weeks in any case.
