College of Law set to make more redundancies

July 8, 2013 The College of Law is set to make its third round of redundancies within six months, focussing the cuts on the College's Store Street premises.

Roll on Friday points out that the redundancies seem inevitable in the present climate. Graduate recruitment for lawyers has fallen, and the recent Legal Education and Training Review has put law schools under pressure to take on fewer students. Meanwhile the college’s main rival, BPP law school, has already made 40 redundancies this year.

A spokeswoman for the College said that "we are carrying out a limited restructuring to ensure that we are best placed to maintain our high-quality educational offering and maximise future opportunities for growth. The restructure does not reduce the teaching and support time for our students.  Our commitment to the highest academic standards and best possible support for our students and clients remains the same."
