German law firm Gleiss Lutz offers sabbaticals

July 22, 2013 German law firm Gleiss Lutz has introduced paid sabbaticals for senior associates in their third and sixth year at the firm. In response to associates’ dissatisfaction with their work/life balance, the firm now offers qualifying lawyers the chance to take a paid month off to pursue whatever interests they wish.

Dr Aleksander Schwartz, Gleiss Lutz's partner in charge of personnel, explained the move, saying: "someone who can recharge his or her batteries will come back to work with increased energy and more creative ideas".
