Patton Boggs partners told to shape up or ship out

August 13, 2013 Washington DC law firm Patton Boggs has warned partners that they must meet prescribed productivity levels or move on.

The move is part of a new strategic plan to cut costs, get rid of unproductive partners and focussing resources upon its core competency in government work, including litigation, investigations, Middle East work, and corporate deals involving regulatory work.

The firm’s compensation structure is also under review, and the firm is said to be moving away from the "eat-what-you-kill" system, which is criticised as discouraging collaboration.
