Survey shows associates have high job satisfaction

August 30, 2013 A new survey by the American Lawyer reports that mid-level associates are thrilled to be lawyers. The survey of 5,683 lawyers at 134 US law firms shows that third- fourth- and fifth-year associates are the happiest they’ve been in almost ten years.

Of course, the surveyed associates might be happy just having a job in the context of a depressed job market. Certainly law graduates that are struggling to pay down student loans without biglaw jobs would report lower levels of satisfaction.

There is also a gender gap in the results, with men more likely to report satisfaction with their working conditions and prospects than women.
