Freshfields to farewell global managing partner

October 2, 2013 Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is losing it global managing partner - Ted Burke - to Boston private equity firm Arclight Capital Partners.

Burke will step down from the leadership role at Freshfields in the first quarter of 2014, eight years after taking up the role and one year before his tenure is up, to take up a role as general counsel and COO of Arclight Capital Partners.

Competition partner David Aitman has been nominated to take over from Burke, and the firm’s partnership has approved the nomination. Aitman is currently the senior elected member of the firm’s governing body, the Partnership Council, and also co-chairs the partnership recommendation committee.

In a statement Freshfields explained that Burke had long been planning to return to his home country, and the move was brought forward due to the opportunity at Arclight - a longstanding Freshfields client.
