Dentons and McKenna in merger negotiations
Dentons and McKenna Long & Aldridge have confirmed they are currently in in merger negotiations. According to reports, the discussions began around five months ago, becoming more serious in the past month and possibly leading to a merger as early as 1 January 2014.
Dentons is itself the product of last year’s merger between SNR Denton, Salans and Fraser Milner Casgrain, and the firm further expanded later in 2012 with the addition of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps.
Dentons is significantly larger than McKenna, with 2,500 lawyers to McKenna’s 575.
If a merger does go ahead, the combined firm would have about 3,100 lawyers, making it the third largest global law firm by headcount. Combined firm revenues would be approximately £1.04 billion.
